When you need one
For CMMC Level 2, your contract determines whether self-assessment or third-party assessment applies. Confirm the required assessment route before booking an assessor.
Prepare for the assessment
Agree the system boundary, assemble evidence, identify people who can demonstrate the controls, and resolve gaps. A consultant helping with preparation and the organisation conducting the assessment have different responsibilities.
